This research is entitled 'The Textual Analysis of Songs Lyrics Written by the Arctic Monkeys'�. In writing this final project, the present writer chooses the Arctic Monkeys as the object of the study because they are a well known musician and has many achievements. There are two objectives in this study; the first is to analyze the figure of speech used in the song and the second objective is to analyze the ethnography of speaking term used in it. The present writer analyzes ten songs of the Arctic Monkeys. The song are 'If you were there beware'�, 'Who the fuck are Arctic Monkeys'�,'Fluorescent Adolescent'�, 'From the Ritz to the Rubble'�, 'Fake Tales of San Francisco'�, 'Perhaps Vampires is a bit Strong but..', 'Riot Van'�, 'When the Sun goes down'�, 'Settle for a Draw', and 'Red lights indicates doors are secured'. The results of this research can be briefly stated as follow, Social life is the most influence theme for the Arctic Monkeys to write their songs. The figures of speech that the present writer extracted from the lyrics are hyperbole, synecdoche, understatements, irony, metaphor, chiasmus, assonances, and metonymy.
