SMA Aiyura adalah sekolah yang berlokasi di provinsi timur pegunungan Papua New Guinea (PNG). Itu adalah satu dari empat sekolah menengah astas di PNG yang mendaftar di tahun 1970-an. Baru-baru ini nama sekolah itu terganti ke sekolah Unggulan. Pada banyak kasus, siswa biasanya tidak masuk kelas karena berbagai alasan yang mengakibatkan kinerja akademik yang buruk, kehadiran sangat penting bagi setiap masing-masing siswa dimana tidak ada perbedaan besar di sekolah. Cara menginformasikan tradisi ini kepada orangtua adalah dengan mengundang para orangtua murid agar dapat hadir di sekolah dan berkomunikasi dengan guru tentang absensi siswa. Hal ini melalui sebuah proses yang panjang dan beberapa orang tua murid tidak dapat hadir karena beberapa alasan seperti sibuk bekerja; mereka pergi dari sekolah dan melakukan pekerjaan yang mereka anggap lebih penting. Fasilitas dan kemudahan yang tersedia adalah perlengkapan besar yang dimiliki oleh sistem menejemen dari SMA Aiyura. Itu web-based Student Attendance Monitoring System (SAMS) dari SMA Aiyura bertujuan untuk memonitori kehadiran para siswa di sekolah. Sistem ini adalah sebuah sistem web-based yang di pajang di atas panggung dari obyek orientasi dan menggunakan Unified Modeling Language (UML). Yang diharapkan dari sistem ini adalah untuk membantu administrasi, orangtua murid dan komunitas sekolah untuk melihat laporan kehadiran siswa sekolah secara online, mereka dapat menggunakan Web-browser agar memudahkan mereka untuk mendapatkan banyak informasi.

Aiyura National High School is located in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG). It was one of the original four National High Schools in PNG enrolling many from the 1970s onwards. Recently the school name has changed to School of Excellence. In most cases, students are subjected to absences due to some reasons which resulted in poor academic performance because attendance is very important in every student in which a single absent is a big difference in a school. The way of informing the parents about this is the traditional way which is they inviting the parents through telling the students that the parents need to come to school and communicate with the teacher about the absenteeism of the student. This takes a long process and sometimes parents are not able to come because of some reasons that the parents are busy at work; they are away from the school and have an important matter to take care of. In order to facilitate and simplify these actions one of the major tool is to have automated school management system in place for Aiyura National High School. The Web-based Student Attendance Monitoring System (SAMS) of Aiyura National High School proposed by researcher is basically to monitor student absenteeism and behavior of the student in the school. This system is a web-based system build on the platform of object-oriented and using the unified modeling language (UML).The expectation of this system is to allow stakeholders such as; administration, parents and school community to view online the attendance report of the prospective student using Web-browser to enable them to make a most informed decision.
