This project is about analyzing figurative language used in High School Musical 3: Senior Year song lyrics and this project uses 12 songs in this film. They are chosen to be analyzed because they consists some of figurative languages. The aims of this project are try to find figurative language found in those song lyrics and get their meaning refers to the theory of type figurative language by Richard Nordquist. The method used in this project is descriptive qualitative analysis method, so the description of their is given. Result of this project is 5 types of figurative language found: Anaphora (48.5%), Assonance (40%), Alliteration (5.7%), Apostrophe (2.9%), and Personification (2.9%). Accordingly, the most type of figurative language used in those songs is Anaphora (48.5%). Anaphora used to make a melodious rhyme to the lyrics and emphasize to the meaning of the lyrics, so listeners can remember the lyrics well.
