The final project entitled "An Analysis of Reference in The Adventures of Tintin: Tintin in America and King Ottokar's Sceptre Comics". The aims of this study are: the first, to find out kinds of reference used on those two comics and the second is to analyze what types of reference mostly used on those comics are. Theories used are reference from Eggins, S (1994), then comics and its elements. The method used is qualitative method, because the result of analysis is descriptive. After analyzing the data taken from the comics above, it could be concluded that kinds of reference found are: anaphoric, cataphoric, exophoric, and homophoric. The most kinds of reference found are: anaphoric (68 times), exophoric (47 times), cataphoric (46 times) in the comic entitled Tintin in America, while in the comic entitled King Ottokar's Sceptre there are anaphoric (102 times), cataphoric (62 times), and exophoric (34 times). The least reference found in Tintin in America is homophoric with 9 references and 11 references in King ottokar's Sceptre comics. This analysis has a great impact on the study of Writing, Essay Writing, and Text Analysis. Keywords: Reference, anaphoric, cataphoric, exophoric, homophoric.
