An Analysis of the Journal Structure and Its Tenses Used in Three Different Open Access Academic Journal Articles

This study investigates the structure of a journal article and tenses used in each structure in three different discipline open access academic journal article. A qualitative method of this study has found that title, abstract, introduction, result, discussion, conclusion, and references are the important structure of a journal included in those articles; moreover, the keywords, literature review, methodology, and acknowledgement are presented based on the purpose of the research. The findings further show that simple present tense is used in writing abstract, introduction, result, discussion, conclusion, literature review, and acknowledgement. Then, present perfect tense is used in writing the abstract. Moreover, the result, discussion, and conclusion use simple past tense. The implication of this study is that this study becomes a reference to start writing a journal. Keywords: journal structure, tenses, qualitative, journal articles, open access.
