This project entitled an analysis of the translation of cultural words in The People's Religion. It aims are to identify the category of the cultural words, to identify the translation technique used, to identify whether the translation tend to be foreignized or domesticated, and to assess the translation quality in terms of accuracy and acceptability. In carrying out this final project, the qualitative method and quantitative was used. After analyzing, the result shows that from 70 cultural found, only four categories were found in The People's Religion book, namely, ecology, material, social and organization. In translating the cultural words, out of 18 translation techniques proposed by Molina and Albir, there are only 9 techniques were employed in the translation. Among the nine techniques, borrowing, amplification, and description are the most commonly technique used. Borrowing has the highest position with 22 cultural words or 28,6% and establish equivalent as the lower position with 1 cultural words or 1,3%. Moreover, domesticationis the strategy tendency of the translation of cultural word. The percentage of domestication is 56,3%, higher than foreignization with 43,7%.The translation prefers to keep the culture value and introduce the cultural word to the global target readers. Also, based on the result of questionnaire, it shows that the average score for accuracy and acceptability level are 2.7 and 2.2 which means accurate and acceptable.
