The title of this study is "An Analysis of Types of Sentences Used in Some Texts in Oxford Read and Discover Books." The aims of this study are to find the types of sentences used in some texts in Oxford Read and Discover books and to find the type of sentence mostly used in the books. The books which were chosen consisted of Levels 1, 4, and 6 with the topic on food and health. The study mostly used a qualitative method to analyze each sentence in the texts in Levels 1, 4, and 6 and a simple calculation to count the types of sentences in terms of the frequency and the percentage of the analysis results. The data collections were done by downloading and reading the books, choosing the texts, and printing the chosen texts. The data was analyzed by numbering the sentences, analyzing each sentence by identifying its sentence elements, identifying the clauses into independent and dependent clauses, categorizing each sentence into type of sentence. The results of the analysis were recorded in tables. The findings shows that types of sentences used in the texts are simple sentences (73%), complex sentences (16%), compound sentences (10%), and compound-complex sentences (1%). It can be seen that simple sentences are mostly used in some texts in Oxford Read and Discover books since simple sentences are the type of sentence which makes children easy to understand the content of the texts.
