This study entitled An Analysis of Writing Style in Five News Report Articles in Sunday Post Newspaper. Writing style is important because it could make reader understand, enjoy to the text. Therefore, this study is aimed at analyzing the writing style. The aspects of writing style which are used are types of voice sentence, types of reported speech and diction, especially connotative meaning. The data are five different contexts of news report articles taken from Sunday Post newspaper. Qualitative method is used to conduct this study for the data are texts. This study found that in five news report articles in Sunday Post the writers use more active voice than passive voice, more indirect speech than direct speech and use connotative words in writing news report. The use of active voice is mostly found in fashion context. Then, the use of indirect speech and connotative words are mostly found in politic context.
