Cooling Tower banyak digunakan di industri untuk sistem pendinginan air. Pada Cooling Tower air didinginkan oleh udara. Panas yang dilepaskan air ke udara terdiri dari panas sinsibel dan panas laten. Besarnya pelepasan panas dari air ke udara menentukan peformansi dan efektivitas Cooling Tower. Ada beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi peformansi cooling tower diantaranya adalah kondisi distribusi aliran air ,udara di dalam Cooling Tower, Kondisi lingkungan di sekitar. Berkaitan masalah di atas maka melalui kegiatan tugas akhir ini kaji analisis efektivitas cooling tower sebelum dan setelah maitenance. Untuk analisis diperlukan pengambilan data dengan cara mengukur temperatur air masuk, air keluar, temperatur bola basah,bola kering di area lingkungan. Cara menganalisa Cooling Tower menggunakan Temperatur Range dan Temperatur Approach untuk mengetahui hasil kinerja Cooling Tower. Hasil dari analis ini yaitu selama masa maintenance kilang PT.Pertamina RU VI Balongan, Cooling Tower 56-CT-101 hanya memaintenance bagian bawah dari Cooling Tower seperti pembersihan dan Pengosongan Cell. Pembersihan digunakan untuk menghilangkan kotoran atau sampah yang ikut kedalam Cooling Tower supaya tidak menghalangi laju dari air pendingin. Dari hasil perhitungan pada tanggal 27 Juli 2018 dan 19 Agustus 2018 dengan pukul yang sama, pukul 12.00 didapatkan nilai Range yaitu sebesar 13,1 oC dan 9,3 oC, nilai Approach Sebesar 7,7 oC dan 11,6 oC, nilai efektivitas sebesar 63% dan 47,4%. Kinerja dari Cooling Tower setelah beberapa hari kilang start operasi, belum menunjukan performa yang seperti biasanya dikarenakan kilang tidak langsung start semua unit tetapi bertahap. Cooling Tower is widely used in industry for water cooling systems. In the Cooling Tower the water is cooled by air. The heat released by water into the air consists of supernatural heat and latent heat. The amount of heat released from water to air determines the performance and effectiveness of the Cooling Tower. There are several factors that influence the performance of a cooling tower including the condition of the distribution of water flow, the air inside the Cooling Tower, the condition of the surrounding environment. In connection with the above problems, through this final project, analyze the effectiveness of cooling tower before and after maintenance. For analysis, data collection is required by measuring the temperature of incoming water, outgoing water, wet ball temperature, dry ball in the environmental area. How to analyze the Cooling Tower using Temperature Range and Temperature Approach to find out the results of the performance of the Cooling Tower. The results of this analyst are that during the maintenance period of PT.Pertamina RU VI Balongan refinery, Cooling Tower 56-CT-101 only maintains the bottom of the cooling tower such as cell cleaning and emptying. Cleaning is used to remove dirt or rubbish that goes into the Cooling Tower so as not to obstruct the rate of cooling water. From the results of calculations on July 27, 2018 and August 19, 2018 with the same time, at 12.00 obtained the value of the Range of 13.1 oC and 9.3 oC, Approach of 7.7 oC and 11.6 oC, the effectiveness value of 63% and 47.4%. The performance of the Cooling Tower after a few days the refinery started operating, has not shown the usual performance because the refinery does not start all units immediately but gradually.
