The title for this final project is "Analyzing Translation Technique and Quality in Translating Phrasal Verbs in The Witches Novel". This project is focused on analyzing the techniques used in translating phrasal verbs in the novel entitled The Witches written by Roald Dahl and published by Jonathan Cape Ltd in 1983. The novel is a popular children's fantasy novel. The novel has been translated into Indonesian by Diniarty Pandia with title "Ratu Penyihir" and published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2002. The novel consists of 22 chapters and 220 pages. In analyzing the technique, the theory from Vinay and Darbelnet's (2000) is used. Based on the theory, three techniques are found in translating the phrasal verbs in the novel. There are equivalence technique (98.04%), modulation technique (0.98%) and adaptation technique (0.98%). In order to find out the most dominant technique used in the novel, the formula from Butler (1985) is used. From the formula, the dominant technique is equivalence technique. In measuring the quality of accuracy, acceptability and readability in translating the phrasal verbs in the novel, the theory from Nababan, Nuraeni and Sumardiono (2012) is taken. The average of the results of whole translation of phrasal verbs in the novel is 2.93. From the score, it can be concluded that the novel is included into a good translation.
