Teknologi informasi tidak dapat dipisahkan dengan perkembangan dunia informasi internet saat ini. Informasi yang disajikan di dunia internet sudah sangat global dan selalu diusahakan on time sehingga waktu update suatu informasi sangatlah cepat. Perkembangan internet sebagai sarana komunikasi merupakan teknologi yang mampu menyikapi persoalan-persolan yang semakin kompetitif saat ini, terbukti dengan pemakaiannya yang sudah mendunia. Internet menyediakan berbagai informasi secara cepat yang dibutuhkan oleh semua orang di seluruh dunia. Perwalian berbasis web merupakan salah satu sistem perwalian jarak jauh yang memanfaatkan teknologi internet. Sistem ini merupakan media perantara bagi interaksi antara dosen wali dan mahasiswa dalam melakukan proses perwalian tanpa harus bertatap muka secara langsung, tetapi cukup dengan perantara web site. Untuk keperluan tersebut, maka dibutuhkan aplikasi perwalian berbasis web untuk membantu mahasiswa dalam proses perwalian di luar kelas. Aplikasi ini dirancang tidak hanya untuk membantu mahasiswa dalam pengambilan mata kuliah, tetapi membantu dosen wali dalam proses persetujuan perwalian. Oleh karena itu, dengan dibangunnya aplikasi perwalian ini kegiatan perwalian antara mahasiswa dan dosen wali dapat dilakukan di luar kelas dan interaksi antara dosen wali dan mahasiswa masih dapat dilakukan serta dapat membantu meningkatkan efisiensi dalam proses pengolahan data perwalian mahasiswa.

The technology of information nowadays cannot be apart from the development of information on the web. Information on the web is globally served and always tries to be on time, so the update time of information is fast. The development of web as one of communication tools is a technology which can handle competitive problems today, proved by its users which are spread all over the world. Web served information with fast which is needed by everyone in this world. Web-based trusteeship is one of many far-away trusteeship systems that used web technology. This system is a mediator of interaction between guardian lectures (tutor) and university students in doing the process of trusteeship. So they don’t have to meet each other face to face, the process of trusteeship can be done by website media. For this necessity, it is need a web-base application to help university students in the process of trusteeship outside the class. This application designed not only to help university students in taking lecture subjects, but also to help guardian lectures (tutor) in the process of trusteeship agreements. Thus, with the development of this trusteeship application, the process of trusteeship and interaction between university students and guardian lectures (tutor) can be done outside the class.
