Novella tersebut dipilih karena memiliki hubungan dengan ideology – ideology dominasi, terutama pada ideologi dari pengarang sendiri. Ideologi pengarang yang ditampilkan berupa krittik terhadap ideologi yang sudah ada ataupun ideologi tersebut baru muncul. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memaparkan dan menjelaskan dominasi-dominasi ideologi, fungsi dan hubungannya dengan kehidupan sosial dan maksud dari pengarang dalam menampilkan ideologi tersebut. Penulis menggunakan teory dan metode wacana yang diadaptasi dari Jhon B. Thompson untuk memaparkan permasalahan pada pertanyaan penelitian. Untuk mempermudah penyajian dari penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan teori dominasi sosial dalam memilih data yang berhubungan dengan ideologi dominasi. Dalam menganalis data penulis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan methode analisis isi sebagai petunjuk untuk memaparkan dan menjelaskan data. Data yang diambil dari Novella “Heart of Darknessâ€� dianalisis menggunakan teori dan metode wacana yang diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran yang mudah di mengerti oleh pembaca. Penemuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukan dominasi-dominasi ideologi pengarang, seperti : imperialisme, kolonialisme, rasisme sebagai akibat dari kolonialisme, heroisme, feminisme dan sexisme juga sebagi akibat dari gejala social. Dan hubungan atau fungsi dari Ideologi-ideologi tersebut di dalam kehidupan sosial, serta alasan dari pengarang menampilkan ideologi dominasi tersebut yang berupa kritikan. Berdasarkan penemuan dalam penelitian tersebut, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa ideology dominasi yang disajikan oleh pengarang berbentuk kritikan, perlawanan, dan persetujuan terhadap ideology dominasi tersebut.

The aim of this study is to understand and describe the ideology domination and the correlations or function with social world, additionally to find out the reason of author in portraying the ideology domination. The writer uses the discursive theory and method that are adapted from Jhon B. Thompson to describe the problems in research question. Moreover to make this skripsi is easily understood, writer uses the social dominance theory to classify the data which have correlation with ideology domination. In analyzing the research, the writer uses the design of qualitative research approach and content analysis method as a guide to analyze this research. By using this method, the writer attempt to identify and describe the data. Furthermore, the data from the novella Heart of Darkness will be analyzed using the discursive theory and method, and finally will produce the representation that can be understood and served as the references for the readers and next researcher. The finding of this study shows that the ideology domination which represented by Joseph Conrad, they are: Imperialism and Colonialism, Racism as the effect of the Colonialism, Heroism, Feminism and Sexism also as the effect of the Colonialism. Moreover the ideology domination that portrayed has correlation with the social world or as the function in the social world, the function of this ideology domination is to make the propaganda and to create the belief system, in addition the reason of author in portraying the ideology domination is to criticize the ideology domination in the novella and other ideology outside the novella. According to the finding in this research, ideology dominations which were portrayed by author are the critics, resistant, and support to the ideology domination.
