Konsep network monitoring system yaitu kumpulan suatu sistem yang memiliki tugas mengamati sistem-sistem terhadap kemungkinan terjadinya masalah dan dapat dideteksi secara dini. Fungsi dari network monitoring system adalah memantau sebuah infrastruktur jaringan agar kinerjanya tetap terjaga dan maksimal. Untuk menjamin hal tersebut maka diimplementasikan pada sistem monitoring, sehingga apabila terjadi gangguan pada jaringan maka akan lebih mudah dan cepat diketahui agar dapat diselesaikan masalahnya. Salah satu tools untuk monitoring infrastruktur jaringan adalah Nagios. Pada pengujian ini diimplementasikan monitoring host dan service menggunakan Nagios di jaringan LAN dengan notifikasi alert ketika mengalami gangguan melalui SMS gateway. Sehingga ketika terjadi gangguan pada host Nagios akan memberikan output berupa notifikasi status up atau down dan apabila terjadi gangguan pada service maka Nagios memberikan output berupa notifikasi status critical, unknown, warning, recovery. Untuk pengujian pengiriman notifikasi alert maka dilakukan penonaktifan pada host dan service yang dimonitor. Pengiriman notifikasi alert berupa SMS dilakukan oleh Gammu SMS gateway. Dengan menggunakan Nagios admin jaringan dapat mengetahui kondisi host secara real time melalui notifikasi alert berupa SMS tanpa menunggu laporan terlebih dahulu dari client.

The concept of a network monitoring system which is a collection of systems that are in charge of observing systems and possible problems can be detected early. The function of the network monitoring system is to monitor a network infrastructure in order to be maintained and maximum performance. To ensure that it is implemented in the monitoring system, so that in the event of interference on the network it will be easier and faster is known that the problem can be solved. One of the tools for monitoring network infrastructure is Nagios. In this test implemented monitoring hosts and services using Nagios in LAN network with notification alerts when impaired by SMS gateway. So when there is interference with the Nagios host will provide a notification of the status output up or down and if there is interference on the Nagios service status notifications provide output in the form of critical, unknown, warning, recovery. To test the delivery notification alerts the deactivation is done on which monitored hosts and services. Delivery notification alerts in the form of SMS by Gammu SMS gateway. By using Nagios network admin can know the condition of the host in real time through a notification in the form of SMS alerts without waiting for the report in advance of the client.
