Sistem Informasi Akademik (SIA) pada Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember memiliki keunikan dalam pengembangan, dikarenakan SIA berdiri dari banyak data sumber dari beberapa sistem informasi yang sudah ada dan berjalan di dalamnya. Perbedaan perangkat lunak menyebabkan aplikasi tidak dapat saling berintegrasi melakukan proses-proses informasi yang dibutuhkan universitas. Berkembangnya konsep sistem terdistribusi seperti teknologi web service yang memungkinkan sebuah fungsi digunakan oleh aplikasi lain tanpa perlu mengetahui detail pemrograman yang ada didalamnya diharapkan mampu mengintegrasi basis data, sehingga dapat mempermudah dalam pengembangan sistem informasi. Pengujian dilakukan pada tiga device smartphone android dengan versi yang berbeda, yaitu Gingerbread versi 2.3, Ice Cream Sandwich versi 4.0, Jelly Bean versi 4.2. Hasil percobaan pengembangan sistem informasi akademik menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi dapat jalan sukses pada android diatas version 3.0 dengan hasil kuisioner kepada user menunjukkan persentase rata-rata 90%, sehinggan aplikasi layak untuk diterapkan di Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember.

Academic Information System at the University of Muhammadiyah Jember is unique in the development, because the system standing of many sources of data from several existing information systems and runing. Differences cause the application software can not integrate with other perform information processes needed the university. Expanding the concept of distributed systems such as web services technology that enables a function used by other applications without to knowing the details of programming that is expected to integrate the database, so as to facilitate the development of information systems. Tests performed on three android smartphone device with different versions, Gingerbread version 2.3, version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean version 4.2. Results of academic information systems development experiments show that the application can be run successfully on android over version 3.0 with the results of the questionnaire to the user indicates the average percentage of 90%, so applications able to be implemented at the University of Muhammadiyah Jember.
