SMP Negeri 2 Tamanan merupakan salah satu lembaga pendidikan menengah pertama yang berupaya untuk membuka dan membantu akses masyarakat untuk memperoleh pendidikan. Saat ini dunia teknologi mampu menjadi faktor pembantu dalam segala hal terutama di dalam dunia pendidikan. Semua sekolah saat ini sudah di ajarkan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah. Laboratorium komputer merupakan fasilitas yang disediakan oleh sekolah yang berfungsi untuk menunjang terlaksananya proses belajar mengajar. Dengan adanya laboratorium komputer diangap perlu adanya kepala laboratorium computer, diharapkan dapat bertanggung jawab atas pemeliharaan dan pengembangan sarana laboratorium komputer. Dalam pemilihan kepala laboratorium komputer di SMP Negeri 2 Tamanan sebelumnya masih menggunakan proses pemilihan dengan cara penunjukan langsung oleh pihak kepala sekolah. Oleh karena itu, diangap perlu adanya suatu sistem pendukung keputusan dalam proses pemilihan kepala laboratorium komputer. Metode Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) dipilih dan digunakan dalam proses pemilihan kepala laboratorium komputer ini karena mampu menyeleksi alternatif terbaik dari sejumlah alternatif. Sehingga dapat membantu meningkatkan kualitas pemilihan kepala laboratorium komputer serta memberikan tingkat akurasi yang lebih baik dan memerlukan waktu yang lebih sedikit. Berdasarkan metode SAW diperoleh informasi bahwa dari 29 data alternatif yang paling layak menjadi kepala laboratorium komputer adalah alternatif Sunarto dengan nilai 0,8675, hal ini Sunarto memiliki nilai akhir yang paling tinggi dari alternatif yang lain.

SMP Negeri 2 tamanan is one of the first secondary educational institutions that seek to open up and help the community access to education. Currently the technology world can become auxiliary factor in all respects, especially in education. All schools are now taught Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the learning process in schools. The computer laboratory is a facility provided by the school that serves to support the implementation of the learning process. With the computer lab considered the need for computer lab chief, is expected to be responsible for the maintenance and development of the computer laboratory facilities. In the election of the head of the computer lab in the SMP Negeri 2 tamanan previously were using the electoral process by direct appointment by the principal. Therefore, it is considered necessary to a decision support system in the election process computer lab. Simple Additive weighting method (SAW) is selected and used in the election process is because the computer lab is able to select the best alternative from a number of alternatives. So it can help improve the quality of the elections a computer lab and provide a better degree of accuracy and require less time. Based on a simulation through the SAW method obtained information that on the 29 most viable alternative data into the computer lab is an alternative head Sunarto with a value of 0.8675, it Sunarto has the highest final scores of alternatives.
