Reading is one of the language skills that should be mastered by junior high school students. In this research, the students especially class VIII C students have difficulties in reading comprehension. Based on the problem above, it was important to overcome the students' problem, so that the students' reading comprehension achievement could be improved. Jigsaw IV technique is suitable technique in teaching reading. In this research, the problem is“Can the use of Jigsaw IV technique improve the 8thC class students' reading comprehension achievement at SMPN 2 Umbulsari Jember in the 2013/2014 academic year”. And the purpose this research is to know if the use of Jigsaw IV technique can improve the 8C class students’ reading comprehension achievement at SMPN 2 Umbulsari Jember in the 2013/2014 academic year. The design of the research is classroom action research. This designcovered four stages of activities. They were planning of the action, implementing of the action, observing, and reflecting of the action. The implementing of the action in cycle one was dividing the students into home group and expert group to do the task given and the implementing of the action in cycle two based on the revisions in cycle 1. Then, the revised action of cycle 1 were done in cycle 2, The solutions of some problems were using a chart as media in teaching reading. The subject of this research were the 8thC year students at SMPN 2 Umbulsari Jember in the 2013/2014 academic year. In this research, the primary data were collected from the reading test and from the observation during the teaching learning process. That based on the result of writing test in cycle one shows that the percentage of the students who got score 65 was 60.53 %. And in cycle two, it improved to be 76.32%. In addition, the average result of the students’ active participation was 68. 42% in cycle one. In cycle two, the average result of the students’ active participation indicated improvement that was 81.58%. Finally, it could be said that the use of Jigsaw IV technique could improve the 8thC class students' reading comprehension achievement at SMPN 2 Umbulsari Jember in the 2013/2014 academic year.
