Reading is by far the most important of the four skills in a second language, particularly in English as second or foreign language. But related to the condition and situation right now, there are only students who arestill unable to read comprehensively. To face this common problem there must be some ways and solutions to improve the students’ reading comprehension through the available teaching method, in this case the researcher used Learning Community to improve reading comprehension . In this research, the problem is “How can the use of Learning Communityimprove the eighth gradestudents’ reading comprehension at SMP Nuris Jember”. The purpose of the research is to know how learning communitycan improve the eighth gradestudents’ reading comprehension at SMPNuris Jember. Based on the theory of learning community can improve the eighthgrade students’ reading comprehension at SMP Nuris Jember. The design of this research is classroom action research. The research subject is eighthBclass which consists of 30 students and to obtain the research data used test and abservation. The result of the score analysis,the percentage of students ( was 66.66 %) in the first cycle and the second cycle two ( was 83.33%). Beside, 46.67% Students were active in the class in cycle one and 76.66% Students were active in the class in cycle two. Therefore, it can be concluded that learning Community is very effective to be applied in increasing the students’ reading comprehension. Based on the results in both cycles, it can be concluded that the implementation of Learning Community can improve the eighthh grade students’ reading comprehension at SMP Nuris Jember in the 2014/2015 academic yearby grouping and discussing,giving familiar topic,find out the meaning of difficult word, and sharing ideas with other student each group.
