English is a compulsory subject that has been learned by students from junior high school up to university level for years in Indonesia. There are four language skills in English namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students have to master the four language skills in order to be able to use English fluently in written and oral form. It seems that Flipchart can be used as media in teaching English especially in teaching vocabulary.
The problems in this research are: How can Flipchart improve the seventh grade studentsÃâ vocabulary achievement at SMP Sunan ampel Banyuwangi in the academic year 2014/2015? And How can Flipchart improve the seventh grade studentsÃâ active participation at SMP Sunan ampel Banyuwangi in the academic year 2014/2015?
The design of this research is classroom action research (CAR) which has four steps those are: Planning, Acting, Observing and Reflecting. To collecting the data, the researcher uses checklist and test method to get data about studentsÃâ vocabulary achievement.
Teaching vocabulary by using flipchart could improve the seventh grade students vocabulary achievement at SMP Sunan Ampel Bangorejo Banyuwangi in the 2014/2015 academic year. Flipchart could also improve the seventh grade students active participation at SMP Sunan Ampel Bangorejo-Banyuwangi in the 2014/2015 academic year.
