Writing is one of the important skills in teaching English. It is useful for a range of teaching purposes, which will vary, depending on the developmental stage and the needs of the students. To face this common problem there must be some ways and solutions to improve the studentsÃâ writing ability through the available method, in this case the researcher used Outlining Technique to improve writing ability.
In this research, there is problem, it is ÃâHow can the use of Outlining Technique Improve the VIIIC StudentsÃâ Recount Text Writing Ability at MTs. Ustanul Ulum Panti Jember in the 2012/2013 Academic Year?Ãâ. Based on the theory the write has hypothesis that the use of Outlining Technique can improve the VIIIC studentsÃâ recount text writing ability at MTs. Bustanul Ulum Panti Jember in the 2012/2013 academic year by asking the students to make writing recount text based on the outline.
The design of the research is classroom action research. This research was covered four stages of activities they are planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The implementing in cycle one was asking the students to make writing recount text based on the outline and the implementing in cycle two was asking the students to write recount text based on the outline in front of the class. The research subject is VIIIC class which consist of 37 students and to obtain the research data instrument used test and observation. To calculate the studentsÃâ writing ability score, the researcher uses this formula:
E= n/N X 100%
The result of the score analysis, the percentage of students (> 70 was 40.54%) in the first cycle (> 70 was 75.67%). Based on those result, it could be concluded that the action in cycle two were successful. Therefore, it can be concluded that Outlining Technique is very effective to be applied in increasing the studentsÃâ recount text writing ability.
