Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang konflik yang terjadi antara generasi tua yangbr /
diwakili oleh Sang Nenek dan generasi muda yang diwakili oleh Sang Cucu. Cucubr /
dalam novel ini mampu beradaptasi dengan kebudayaan baru yang dibawa olehbr /
imigran yang datang ke Inggria untuk bekerja, itu sebabnya generasi muda disebutbr /
sebagai progressive, sedangkan Sang Nenek adalah generasi tua yang berpegangbr /
teguh pada tradisi dan tidak bisa dipengaruhi oleh kebudayaan baru yang dibawa olehbr /
imigran. Tujuan penulisan skripsi ini adalah merepresentasikan konflik antara nenekbr /
dan cucu-cucunya yang terdapat dalam novel tersebut The Frozen Lake. Metode yangbr /
digunakan untuk menganalisis konflik yang terjadi antara nenek dan cucunya dalambr /
penelitian ini merupakan metode qualitative, yaitu sebuat metode penelitian yangbr /
bersifat mendeskripsikan suatu kondisi tertentu.br /
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa konflik antara karakter nenek dan cucucucunyabr /
adalah perwujudan dari pertentangan antara generasi lama yang konservatifbr /
dan generasi baru yang progresif. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa konflik yangbr /
terjadi membuat hubungan antara nenek dan cucunya kurang harmonis.br /
Dalam penelitian ini juga ditemukan dampak dari konlflik yang terjadi dalambr /
novel tersebut dan pengaruhnya terhadap hubungan antara nenek dan cucunya. Padabr /
akhirnya penelitian ini dapat membuktikan bahwa dalam keluarga dapat terjadibr /
pertentangan antara konservatif dan progresif yang kemudian dimenangkan olehbr /
generasi progresif sebagai implikasi bahwa generasi konservatif tidak dapatbr /
menerima perubahan.

This research concerns the conflict between the old generation and the youngbr /
generation. The old generation is represented by the grandmother character and thebr /
young generation is represented by the grandchildren. The grandchildren arebr /
progressive person who are influenced by new culture taken by immigrants and theybr /
can adapt to that new culture. On the other hand, a conservative person cannotbr /
socialize with the new tradition; they keep old tradition and do not want to receivebr /
the new influences. The aim of this research is to identify the conflicts occurringbr /
between the grandmother and the grandchildren and the influence of the conflictsbr /
towards the relationship between them as a representation of the conservative andbr /
progressive conflict. The used method to analyze conflict between grandmother andbr /
grandchildren in this research is qualitative method in which the conflict is analyzedbr /
based on the fact that novel reflects social life.br /
The result of this research is that there is the effect of the conflict and find thebr /
representation of the conflict in this novel and the influence of the conflict towardsbr /
grandmother and grandchildren relationship. The conflicts make the relationshipbr /
between grandmother and grandchildren not harmonic.br /
This research explains the influence of the conflicts towards the relationshipbr /
between grandmother and grandchildren. Finally, this research shows that in abr /
family the conflict between conservative and the progressive generation occurs andbr /
the winner is progressive generation because the conservative cannot receive the newbr /
culture
