Atmosfer adalah lapisan udara yang menyelimuti bumi. atmosfer terdiri dari beberapa lapisan yaitu lapisan troposfer, stratosfer, mesosfer, termosfer dan eksosfer. Atmosfer adalah salah satu cabang ilmu geografi yang dipelajari di sekolah tingkat SMP / Sederajat. penguasaan materi lapisan atmosfer bumi menjadi sesuatu yang sangat penting bagi peningkatan prestasi akademik para siswa di sekolah. Berdasarkan data hasil quesioner yang dilakukan kepada 30 orang siswa SMPN 17 Bandung kelas VII semester 2, didapatkan data bahwa sekitar 70% siswa menjawab tidak mengerti materi lapisan atmosfer bumi, artinya masih banyaknya siswa yang belum mengerti materi pelajaran lapisan atmosfer bumi dengan baik. Materi yang disampaikan hanya dapat dipahami oleh beberapa orang siswa saja, tentu ini menjadi salah satu kendala untuk meningkatkan prestasi akademik para siswa di sekolah. Sebagai salah satu solusi maka perlu adanya sebuah perancangan media belajar yang bersifat kreatif, menarik dan efektif, sehingga dapat lebih mudah untuk diterima dan dimengerti oleh para siswa. Perancangan video belajar lapisan atmosfer bumi yang dilengkapi dengan animasi, gambar, suara dan disampaikan dengan bahasa yang lebih mudah dipahami, sehingga materi yang disampaikan dapat dimengerti oleh seluruh siswa.

Atmosphere is an air layer that covers earth. It is composed of several layers, namely troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. Atmosphere is one of the branches of geography that is studied at junior high school (SMP)/equivalent educational level. The mastery of materials on earth atmosphere layer is of high importance in enhancing the academic achievement of students in the school.Based on the data obtained as the results of a questionnaire carried out to 30 students of SMPN 17 Bandung, semester 2 of grade VII, it was found that around 70% of the students said that they donÂ’t understand the materials of earth atmosphere layer, meaning that there are still many students who have not yet understood well the materials of the lesson on earth atmosphere layer. The materials presented can be understood by only several students. This of course becomes one of the constraints in enhancing the academic achievement of the students in the school. As a solution, it needs a creative, attractive, effective design of learning media, so that the lesson can be easier received and understood by the students. The designing of an earth atmosphere layer learning video should be equipped with animations, pictures, and voices, and presented by a more understandable language, so that the materials conveyed can be understood by all students.
