Penelitian yang berjudul “Jenis Mood pada Tema Ideasional dalam The Little Prince karya Antoine De Saint Exupery ini membahas jenis-jenis mood dalam tema ideasional yang terdapat pada novel serta menjelaskan konstituen yang membangun mood tersebut. Untuk menganalisis permasalahan tersebut, teori analisis fungsional grammar dari M.A.K Halliday and Christian Matthiessen (2004) dan teori dari Linda Gerot dan Peter Wignell (1994) digunakan. Metode yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah metode deskriptif. Data yang digunakan berasal dari novel “The Litte Prince” karya Antoine de Saint Exupery. Berdasarkan analisis, peneliti menemukan jenis mood yang berupa declarative mood dan interrogative mood dalam tema ideasional. Selain itu, dalam 18 (delapan belas) data declarative mood, penulis menemukan bahwa konstituen yang membangun mood tersebut adalah nominal group as theme, nominal group complex as theme, adverbial group as theme, prepositional phrase as theme, dan complement as theme. Sedangkan pada interrogative mood, peneliti menemukan 7 (tujuh) data dengan konstituen wh-interrogative dan konstituen do/does element yang membangun mood tersebut. Sebagai simpulannya adalah jenis mood yang muncul pada novel tersebut adalah declarative mood dan interrogative mood.

This research entitled “Mood Types of Ideational Theme in “Exupery’s The Little Prince” discuss about mood types in ideational theme contained in the novel and explain the constituents that build the mood. To analyze the issues, this research used the theory functional grammar analysis by M.A.K Halliday and Christian Matthiessen (2004) and theory by Linda and Peter Wignell Gerot (1994). The method used in this research is descriptive analysis. Data are taken from the novel The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery. Based on the analysis, The researcher found mood types that is declarative mood and interrogative mood in ideational theme. In addition, in 18 (eighteen) data is declarative mood, the researcher found that the constituent build the mood is a nominal group as a theme, nominal group complex as a theme, adverbial group as theme, prepositional phrase as theme and complement as theme. While, in the interrogative mood, the researcher found that seven (7) data by constituent wh-interrogative and constituent do / does the elements that build the mood. In summary, mood types that appears in the novel is declarative mood and interrogative mood.
