Phthalate, atau ester ftalat, adalah ester dari asam ftalat terutama digunakan sebagai plasticizer (zat yang ditambahkan ke plastik untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas plastik, transparansi, daya tahan, dan umur panjang). Tujuan dari Penelitian ini membandingkan dua metode analisis pengukuran kandungan phthalate, pertama yaitu metode British Standar Europe Norm (BSEN) 14372 dan metode Quality and Safety Operating Procedure (QSOP) 3610. Kedua metode diatas menggunakan instrumen Kromatografi Gas Ãâ Spektrometer massa (KG-SM). Total kandungan phthalate dalam sampel biji plastik jenis PVC sebesar 0,047 % menggunakan metode British Standar Europe Norm (BSEN) 14372. Sedangkan total kandungan phthalate dengan metode Quality and Safety Operating Procedure (QSOP) 3610 sebesar 0,207 %. Terlihat bahwa metode QSOP 3610 memiliki hasil yang lebih besar, Hal ini disebabkan pada kedua metode tersebut menggunakan dua pelarut dengan titik didih yang berbeda. Secara keseluruhan dinyatakan bahwa metode terbaik untuk menganalisis kandungan phthalate yaitu Quality and Safety Operating Procedure 3610 (QSOP). Phthalates, or phthalate esters, are esters of phthalic acid is mainly used as plasticizers (substances added to plastics to increase flexibility of plastic, transparency, durability, and longevity). The purpose of the study compared two methods of measurement analysis of phthalate content, the first is the method of British Standard Europe Norm (BSEN) 14 372 and methods of Quality and Safety Operating Procedure (QSOP) 3610. Both of the above methods using Gas Chromatography instrument - mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Total phthalate content in plastic seed samples of 0.047% PVC type using the British Standard Europe Norm (BSEN) 14 372. While the total phthalate content by the method of Quality and Safety Operating Procedure (QSOP) 3610 of 0.207%. It appears that the method QSOP 3610 have even greater results, This is the second method uses two solvents with different boiling points.
