Kebutuhan air hangat/panas untuk kebutuhan rumah tangga sangatlah penting. Selama ini kebutuhan air hangat/panas tersebut terpenuhi dengan air yang dipanaskan oleh tungku atau pemanas air yang menggunakan listrik atau LPG. Salah satu alternatif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air hangat/panas tersebut adalah dengan membuat solar water heateratau pemanas air tenaga surya.Solar water heatersendiri merupakan sebuah kolektor panas yang memanfaatkan energi surya/matahari sebagai sumber panasnya. Berdasarkan latar belakang yang diuraikan, maka permasalahan yang akan diteliti adalah: menghitung spesifikasi kolektor panas plat datar yang dapat menghasilkan temperatur air keluar 45⁰C dan melakukan pembuatan serta pengujian solar water heatersesuai dengan perhitungan yang dilakukan. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian nilai temperatur air keluaran tertinggi yaitu sebesar 46.1⁰C sementara temperatur air keluaran terendah adalah 37.8⁰C. Effiiensi dari solar water heateryang dibuat mencapai 53.75% dan effisiensi terendahnya adalah 40.82%. Kata kunci: Air, Energi Surya, Kolektor Panas, Solar Water Heater, Tungku.

Requirement for warm / hot water for household needs is very important. During this time the requirement for warm / hot water is fulfilled with water heated by a furnace or water heater that uses electricity or LPG. One alternative to fullfill the needs of warm / hot water is to make solar water heater. Solar water heater itself is a heat collector that utilizes solar energy as its heat source. Based on the background described, the problems to be studied are: calculating the specifications of flat plate heat collectors that can produce the temperature of the water out 45⁰C and making and testing the solar water heater according to the calculations performed. Based on the results of testing the highest water temperature value is 46.1⁰C while the lowest output water temperature is 37.8⁰C.
