Dalam usaha pemanfaatan peluang pasar yang semakin luas dewasa ini, sektor industri menjadi salah satu penunjang dari tercapainya target pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional. Salah satu cabang industri yang menunjukkan peluang besar untuk menguasai pasar jika dikembangkan dengan baik adalah industri kimia dan farmasi. Namun, meskipun peluang pasar terbuka sangat lebar, performa perusahaan-perusahaan industri kimia dan farmasi menunjukkan hasil yang terus menurun. Menurut data Menteri Perindustrian triwulan 1 tahun 2018, industri kimia, farmasi, dan obat tradisional termasuk ke dalam salah satu industri yang mengalami pertumbuhan negatif dibanding triwulan sebelumnya. Pertumbuhan produksi yang terus menurun ini tentu juga berdampak pada profitabilitas perusahaan. Penelitian ini mencari tahu penyebab kemunduran profitabilitas industri kimia dan farmasi dengan cara melihat ada tidaknya pengaruh antara ekuitas dan modal intelektual terhadap profitabilitas perusahaan. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa Value Added Human Capital dan Value Added Capital Employed memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap profitabilitas, sementara ekuitas dan Structural Capital Value Added tidak berpengaruh terhadap profitabilitas perusahaan. In an order to catch the wider market opportunities today, the industrial sector is one of the supporting factors for achieving national economic growth target. One of the sectors in the industry that shows a great opportunity to dominate the market if it is well developed is the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. However, even though the market opportunity is very wide open, the performance of chemical and pharmaceutical industry companies has shown continuing decline result. According to data of Kementrian Industri in the first quarter of 2018, the chemical, pharmaceutical and traditional medicine industries are one of the industries that experienced negative growth compared to the previous quarter. Declining production growth is certainly also an impact on the profitability of the company. In this study, researchers will find out the causes of the decline in profitability of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries by looking at whether there is an impact between equity and intellectual capital on the profitability of the company. The hypothesis of this study are physical capital and the components of intellectual capital partially affect the profitability of the company. Keywords: Equity, Intellectual Capital, Profitability.
