Penelitian yang berjudul "Pengaruh Superstructure dan Base terhadap Tokoh Utama dalam Novel The Street LawyerÃâ mendiskusikan perbedaan antara base, orang-orang yang dominated, serta superstructure, orang-orang yang dominant. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah memperlihatkan bahwa perubahan karakter seseorang dapat juga dianalisis dengan menggunakan gagasan Marx mengenai relations of production. Sementara itu. pemicu perubahan sikap yang dialami tokoh utama sendiri dapat dilihat dari segi ekonomi, politik maupun sosial. Metode deskriptif dengan teknik showing and telling digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk memaparkan pengaruh superstructure dan base yang dialami oleh Michael, tokoh utama dalam novel The Street Lawyer, serta pemaparan mengenai bagaimana relation of production bekerja, seperti dalam hubungan owning-owned ataupun hubungan oppressing-oppressed. Hal tersebut dipaparkan ketika Michael diposisikan sebagai base dalam lingkungan pekerjaan ataupun ketika dia diposisikan sebagai superstructure dalam lingkungan masyarakat sekitar. Dari posisinya tersebut, keadaan ketika Michael diposisikan sebagi base ataupun superstructure, akan terlihat karakter Michael dalam memandang masyarakat.Dengan demikian, simpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah pertama, superstructure sebagai kelas yang dominan memiliki kekuasaan penuh terhadap bawahannya dengan cara mengeksploitasi base demi mendapatkan keuntungan. Hal ini tergambar jelas pada hubungan owning-owned. Sementara itu, pada hubungan oppressing-oppresed tergambar jelas bagaimana superstructure mengeksploitasi base dengan kekuasaan yang dimilikinya tersebut.

This research entitled "The Influences of Superstructure and Base toward The Main Character in Novel The Street LawyerÃâ discusses the differences between base, who is positioned as dominated class, and superstructure, who is positioned as dominant class which occur in the novel. The purpose of this research is to show that character change can also be analyzed using MarxÃâs idea about relation of production. It becomes the triggers of the character change experienced by Michael, which can be seen in economic, politic, and social aspects.Descriptive method is used in this research by applying showing and telling technique to describe the influence from superstructure and base which is experienced by Michael, the main character in the novel, also the explanation of how relation of production operates, as in owning-owned and oppressing-oppressed relations. It is illustrated when Michael, is positioned as base in his working environment and when he is positioned as superstructure in the society.Therefore, a conclusion obtained from this research is superstructure as a dominant class has a power over their subordinate by exploiting them for profit. It is shown on owning-owned relations. Whereas, trough the oppressing-oppressed relation, it is shown clearly how superstructure exploits base through its power.
