Penelitian ini adalah mengenai bagaimana peranan CIFOR melalui program Improving Economic Outcomes for Smallholders Growing Teak in Agroforestry Systems in Indonesia dalam pengelolaan hutan jati dan meningkatkan kesejahteran masyarakat di wilayah Kabupaten Gunungkidul tahun 2007-2010. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan peran petani dalam produksi kayu jati di Indonesia dengan mengidentifikasi hambatan untuk keterlibatan dan mengidentifikasi cara untuk mengurangi hambatan tersebut, dengan demikian meningkatkan mata pencaharian petani kecil. Metode dan teknik penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dan studi kepustakaan serta lapangan, dengan menggunakan metode ini dapat diambil hipotesis untuk mengidentifikasikan permasalahan tersebut, hipotesis tersebut "Peningkatan pendapatan ekonomi masyarakat petani disekitar hutan di Kabupaten Gunungkidul dapat ditingkatkan melalui program Improving Economic Outcomes for Smallholders Growing Teak in Agroforestry Systems in Indonesia ditandai dengan adanya pengenalan dan adaptasi teknologi silvikultural, penyediaaan insentif untuk partisipasi petani pohon jati, serta kemudahan mencapai akses pasar bagi petani jati skala kecil". Hasil uji dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kerjasama CIFOR dengan para mitra melalui program Improving Economic Outcomes for Smallholders Growing Teak in Agroforestry Systems in Indonesia telah memberikan peranan dalam menangani masalah pengelolan hutan jati dan kesejahteraan masyarakat di wilayah Kabupaten Gunungkidul yang ditandai dengan terbitnya buku Pengelolaan Hutan Jati Rakyat Panduan Lapangan untuk Petani. Berdasarkan data-data yang terkumpul serta hasil analisis dari peneliti, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis diatas telah teruji.

This research paper is about how the role of CIFOR through the program Improving Economic Outcomes for Smallholders Growing Teak in Agroforestry Systems in Indonesia in a teak forest management and improve the welfare of society in the years 2007-2010 Gunungkidul. The principal matters in this research paper to enhance the role of farmers in the production of teak in Indonesia to identify barriers to participation and identify the role of farmers to reduce these barriers, thereby improving the livelihoods of small farmers. Methods and research techniques used in this research paper are qualitative and descriptive methods of library research and field research, through this method can be taken to identify the issue hypothesis, the hypothesis is "Improving the economic income of farming communities aaround the forest in Gunungkidul can be improved through the program Improving Economic Outcomes for Smallholders Growing Teak in Agroforestry Systems in Indonesia was maked by introduction and adaptation of silvicultural technology, provision of incentives for farmers participation in the oak, as well as the ease of achieving market access for small-scale farmers". The examination results in this research paper point out the purpose of CIFOR collaboration with partners through the program Improving Economic Outcomes for Smallholders Growing Teak in Agroforestry Systems in Indonesia has given a role to cope matters of teak forest management and welfare in the region Gunungkidul marked by the publication of books Teak Forest Management PeopleÃâs Field Guide for Farmers. Based on the collected datas and the analysis of the researchers, hence be able to draw an inference that the above hypothesis has been tested.
