Diesel engine test bench merupakan jenis testing equipment yang digunakan untuk menguji kinerja dari mesin diesel. Dari pengujian diperoleh data diantaranya berapa banyak konsumsi bahan bakar, konsumsi udara, power yang dihasilkan, putaran, torsi, dan temperatur. Alat atau sensor yang digunakan diantaranya thermocouples, pressure tranducers, fuel measurement, air flow measurement, dynamometer, dan engine speed measurement. Terdapat beberapa pilihan tipe dinamometer yang dipakai dalam merancang diesel engine test bench ini, namun tipe dinamometer yang akan dipakai yakni tipe disc brake. Pada proses perancangan alat ini, metode yang digunakan adalah metode Pahl & Beitz. Tahapan perancangan yang akan dilakukan terdiri dari proses merencana, mengonsep, perancangan bentuk, dan perancangan detail. Hasil perancangan tugas akhir ini adalah rancangan alat uji kinerja mesin diesel menggunakan data akuisisi yang mencakup aspek mekanik, elektrik, dan instrumentasi. Hasil dari kegiatan perancangan ini adalah gambar kerja dan spesifikasi teknik mesin. Alat uji kinerja mesin diesel ini memiliki dimensi keseluruhan 708 x 400 x 296 mm dan massa keseluruhan 56 kg. Diesel engine test bench is a type of testing equipment which is used to test the performance of a diesel engine to obtain data including specific fuel consumption, air consumption, generated power, rotation, torque and temperature. The equipment uses sensors such as thermocouples, pressure tranducers, fuel measurement, air flow measurement, dynamometer, and engine speed measurement. There are several choices of dynamometer types used in designing this diesel engine test bench, but the type of dynamometer that will be used is the disc brake type. In the process of designing this tool, the method used is the Pahl & Beitz method. The design stage that will be carried out consists of the process of planning, conceptualizing, form design, and detail design. The result of this final project design is the design of diesel engine performance testing equipment using data acquisition which includes mechanical, electrical and instrumentation aspects. The results of this design activity are work drawings and mechanical engineering specifications. The diesel engine test bench has an overall dimension of 708 x 400 x 296 mm and an overall mass of 56 kg. Keywords: design, diesel engine test bench, testing equipment, diesel engine, performance.
