PT. Duta Transformasi Insani memiliki jaringan komputer bertipe peer-to-peer, dalam keberjalananya jaringan komputer bertipe ini tidak dapat memenuhi kebutuhan perusahaan yang semakin bertambah setiap tahun, pengiriman data dalam satu unit kerja dan antar unit kerja yang dilakukan user yaitu melalui email dan file sharing, namun terdapat tiga isu utama yang terjadi dalam penggunaan pengiriman data melalui cara tersebut, yaitu lamanya waktu yang dibutuhkan user untuk mengirimkan data, data yang di-share bergantung pada host lainnya, dan terjadinya pencurian serta penyalahgunaan data yang tersebar. Solusi untuk menangani masalah tersebut yaitu dengan menerapkan NAS (Network Attached Storage) yang berfungsi sebagai penyimpanan data terpusat, sistem operasi NAS banyak dibangun pada beberapa platform sistem operasi, salah satunya adalah FreeNAS dimana sistem operasi ini cocok untuk diimplementasikan pada jaringan komputer SOHO (Small Office Home Office). Penelitian ini menekankan pada analisis perbandingan teknologi penyimpanan data, perbandingan kinerja pada tiga sistem operasi NAS, dan implementasi NAS dengan menggunakan sistem operasi FreeNAS. Beberapa protokol/layanan yang digunakan untuk file sharing melalui NAS yaitu CIFS/SMB2, FTP, dan OwnCloud. Metode pengembangan jaringan komputer yang digunakan adalah NDLC (Network Development Life Cycle). Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kualitas jaringan komputer LAN dan WLAN PT. Duta Transformasi Insani tergolong memuaskan, pengiriman data melalui file sharing dengan NAS lebih cepat dibandingkan melalui file sharing tanpa NAS dan email ketika pengiriman data > 2 MB, NAS terbukti dapat menjamin ketersediaan data dengan sangat stabil selama waktu dan jam kerja pegawai dimana tingkat ketersediaan data pada WLAN yaitu 93% dan LAN yaitu 96%, implementasi pengamanan data yang di-share melalui FreeNAS dengan memberikan kebijakan batasan hak akses pada setiap user berhasil dilakukan, sebanyak 68% responden mengatakan kebijakan hak akses ini sudah cukup tepat, namun pada hasil vulnerability scanning menunjukan bahwa sistem operasi FreeNAS versi 9.2.1.9-release-X64 memiliki tingkat vulnerability sebesar 16%.

PT. Duta Transformasi Insani has computer network which type is peer to peer, this type can not fulfill companyÃâs need which getting higher by year to year, every user always sending data within one division and between division every day through email and file sharing, but there are three main issues happened such as length of time that user need to send data within one division and between division, shared data still depend on other host, theft and misuse of data which caused by the weaknesses of security and monitoring toward shared data. The solution to overcome those issues is by implementing NAS (Network Attached Storage) which has main function as centralized data storage. There are a lot of NAS open source operating system, one of most popular is FreeNAS which works based on Unix system, this operating system is fully recommended and suitable to be implemented for SOHO (Small Office Home Office) network. This research focuses on the analysis of data storage server technology, performance comparison among three NAS open source operating systems, and FreeNAS implementation. There are some services used for file sharing through NAS such as CIFS/SMB2, FTP, and OwnCloud. This research also use NDLC (Network Development Life Cycle) method for developing computer network. This method has some steps such as analysis, design, simulation/protyping, implementation, monitoring, and management. Final result of this research showed that the computer network quality of LAN and WLAN in PT. Duta Transformasi Insani are satisfied, file sharing through NAS is fastest than file sharing without NAS and email while transferring data more than 2 MB, NAS has been completely guaranteed to provide data while working time with very stable where the availability level on WLAN showed 93% and LAN showed 96%, the policy of file permission on shared folder through NAS for every user has been successfully implemented and there are 68% users said the file permission policy is quite right, but based on vulnerability scanning showed that FreeNAS version 9.2.1.9-release-X64 has several vulnerabilities up to 16%.
