Jalaluddin Rumi merupakan seorang tokoh atau ulama dari Persia, sebagai seorang ulama Rumi memiliki cara tersendiri dalam menyampaikan nasihat dan ajaran kepada para muridnya, yaitu dengan memberikan nasihat dakwah melalui cerita atau hikayat yang Rumi buat. Salah satu hikayat dengan judul “Pedagang, Kakatua dan Negeri India” karya Jalaluddin Rumi yang memiliki pesan yang baik dalam mengingatkan tentang nilai-nilai kehidupan kepada masyarakat mengenai sifat bersyukur agar tidak berlebihan sehingga terhindar kedalam kehidupan duniawi. Mengenai sifat berlebihan, saat ini banyak fenomena yang terjadi di masyarakat yaitu seperti sebagian besar masyarakat berprilaku konsumtif atau boros. Melihat fenomena tersebut dengan nasihat yang terdapat dalam hikayat “Pedagang, Kakatua, dan Negeri India” karya Jalaluddin Rumi memiliki keterkaitan untuk disampaikan kepada masyarakat. Jika informasi pesan hikayat tersebut telah diketahui masyarakat, diharapkan dapat memberikan motivasi agar dapat lebih mengontrol diri. Oleh karena itu perlu adannya media untuk menyampaikan informasi pesan yang ada dalam buku tersebut kepada masyarakat. Dari beberapa beberapa pilihan media yang ada, maka media yang tepat untuk menyampaikan informasi yaitu dengan melalui media buku ilustrasi visual karena dinilai efektif dan efisien untuk khalayak sasaran.
