Laboratorium Kimia Politeknik Negeri Bandung berencana akan menambahkan alat simulasi percobaan distilasinya yaitu alat distilasi fraksionasi crude oil. Alat distillasi fraksionasi crude oil pada umumnya ada pada industri perminyakan dengan skala yang sangat besar. Melalui tugas akhir ini akan membuat rancangan mekanik crude oil fractionating column untuk skala laboratorium yang handal, aman, serta memenuhi standar ASME SEC VIII dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap kegiatan yaitu tahap perencanaan meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan, pencarian data pemintaan kebutuhan user dan daftar tuntutan; tahap konsep desain meliputi identifikasi fungsi utama dan bagian, variasi konsep desain, penilaian konsep desain dan konsep desain terpilih; tahap perancangan detail meliputi perhitungan desain seluruh komponen, menentukan komponen standar, pemodelan 3D desain rancangan, menentukan proses manufaktur rancangan, kajian aspek ekonomi, kajian aspek perawatan; simulasi CAE dan evaluasi terhadap daftar tuntutan; serta terakhir tahap dokumentasi hasilnya berupa gambar kerja dan bill of material. Hasil dari penelitian tugas akhir berupa rancangan desain pressure vessel yang mampu bekerja pada tekanan 5 bar dan temperatur 600⁰C; material yang digunakan pada pressure vessel adalah SS 316 dan SS 304; memiliki tinggi shell 50 in dan diameter 4 in pada pressure vessel; dan mempunyai 8 macam fraksi hasil proses distilasi fraksinasi. Bandung State Polytechnic Chemistry Laboratory plans to add a simulation tool for its distillation experiment, namely a crude oil fractionation distillation tool. Crude oil fractionation distillation equipment generally exists in the petroleum industry on a large scale. Through this final project, a mechanical design of a crude oil fractionating column for laboratory scale that is reliable, safe, and refer to the ASME SEC VIII standards is carried out in several stages of activities, the planning stage included identification needs, the list demand of user and requirement list for design; the design concept stage includes identification of main functions and parts, variations in design concepts, assessment of design concepts, and selected design concepts; the detailed design stage include the calculation of the design of all components, determining the standard components, 3D modeling design, determining the design manufacturing process, studying the economic aspects, studying the aspects maintenance, CAE simulation and evaluation of requirement list; and the documentation stage, the results are in the form of work drawings and bill of materials. The result of this final project is a pressure vessel design that is able to work at a pressure of 5 bar and a temperature of 600⁰C, The materials used in the pressure vessel are SS 316 and SS 304; The shell height and diameter of the pressure vessel are 50 inches and 4 inches in diameter; and have 8 kinds of output fractions resulting from the fractionation distillation process.
