Dunia teknologi sangat berkembang pesat, terutama penggunaan internet dalam media komunkasi dan salah satunya dunia pendidikan. SMK PI Bandung merupakan salah satu SMK swasta yang sudah mempunyai website, meskipun SMK PI sudah memilik web, tetapi pada yayasan SMK PI dalam penyampaian informasi tentang akademik kepada siswa dan pengolahan sistem informasi akademik masih belum memenuhi instansi atau penggunanya, seperti halnya dalam penyimpanan data siswa baru, data guru, pembagian kelas dan data pendaftaran siswa baru yang disimpan masih dalam bentuk berkas atau arsip yang lalu di input secara manual yakni dengan menggunakan aplikasi Excel. Maka hal tersebut dirasa kurang efektif dan efisien. Oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu program aplikasi khusus yang menangani seputar informasi akademik di SMK PI BANDUNG. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, maka penelitian ini terdiri dari tahap analisis sistem dengan menggunakan metode pendekatan sistem OO (Object Oriented) dengan UML (United Modeling Language). Sedangkan untuk merancang dan mengimplementasikan sistem informasi akademik ini menggunakan bahasa pemograman PHP, database MySQL dengan software aplikasi macromedia Dreamweaver 8, dan untuk pengembangan sistem informasi menggunakan metode prototype. Untuk menganalisis masalah tersebut maka dibuatnya suatu usulan Pengembanan Sistem Informasi berbasis web.

World of technology is growing rapidly, especially the use of personal communication media and the internet in one of the world of education. SMK PI Bandung is one of the private vocational school that already have a website, despite already having an SMK PI web, but at SMK PI in then delivery of academic to students and academic information processing systems still do not meet the agency or its users, as well as in storage of new student data, teacher data, class divisions and new student enrollment data is stored is still in the form of files or archive then manually input that is by using the Excel application. Then it is deemed less effective and efficient. Therefore we need a special application program that handles information about academic at SMK PI BANDUNG. To achieve these objectives, then this study consisted of the analysis phase system using a system approach OO (object oriented)are visualized withUML (United Modeling Language). As for designing and implementing this academic information systems using programming languages PHP, MySQL database with application software Macromedia Dreamweaver 8, and for information system development use prototype method. To analyze the problem then made a proposal developing of web based Information Systems. Based on the results, analysis of proposals made, it can be conclude that academic information system programmed to achieve expected levels of effectiveness and level of work efficiency, as well as data it produces can be better.
