PUSAT VULKANOLOGI DAN MITIGASI BENCANA GEOLOGI adalah sebuah instansi pemerintah yang bergerak di bidang kegunungapian dan mitigasi bencana geologi. Dalam proses pemberian pengetahuan dan informasi terhadap masyarakat, PUSAT VULKANOLOGI DAN MITIGASI BENCANA GEOLOGI memiliki kendala, yaitu belum tersedianya sistem informasi data dasar gunungapi yang memakai media visualisasi lokasi dengan menggunakan peta sebagai sarana media publikasi. Untuk menanggulangi kendala tersebut, maka dibangun Sistem Informasi Geografis Data Dasar Gunungapi Indonesia di PUSAT VULKANOLOGI DAN MITIGASI BENCANA GEOLOGI. Sistem informasi geografis ini berbasis web dan online 24 jam. Dalam perancangan dan pembangunan sistem informasi geografis ini dilakukan dengan metode pengembangan perangkat lunak waterfall. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan setelah dilakukannya pengujian alpha dan betha terhadap Sistem Informasi Geografis Data Dasar Gunungapi Indonesia di PUSAT VULKANOLOGI DAN MITIGASI GEOLOGI, kesimpulan yang dapat diambil yaitu diketahui bahwa Sistem Informasi Geografis Data Dasar Gunungapi Indonesia di PUSAT VULKANOLOGI DAN MITIGASI GEOLOGI dapat membantu dalam proses pemberian pengetahuan dan informasi terhadap masyarakat tentang gunungapi, baik nama gunungapi, lokasi gunungapi, kawasan rawan bencana gunungapi, keterangan wisata gunungapi (data dasar gunungapi).
