Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) sebagai provider Beasiswa Unggulan, Biro Perencanaan dan Kerjasama Luar Negeri (BPKLN) dan Departemen Pendidikan Nasional (DEPDIKNAS) dalam World Class University Programs pada tahun 2010 membuka kelas Internasional bagi para mahasiswa luar negeri dan Program Double Degree (S1) bagi mahasiswa dalam negeri yang ingin meraih 2 gelar sarjana secara bersamaan. Terdapat beberapa permasalahan dalam proses pendaftaran mahasiswa baru program Beasiswa Unggulan dalam dan luar negeri pada UNIKOM seperti pengisian formulir pendaftaran Beasiswa Unggulan dan penyerahan berkas persyaratan masih dilakukan secara manual, penyimpanan Data Peserta dan berkas persyaratan masih dalam bentuk arsip, proses Input data peserta untuk pembuatan lampiran data peserta surat permohonan beasiswa unggulan masih bersifat manual dengan menggunakan aplikasi MS. Excell, peserta tidak bisa melihat hasil pengumuman secara langsung dikarenakan tidak ada sarana pengecekan status peserta Berbasis Online. Dalam mengatasi hal ini penulis merancang dan membuat sistem informasi pendaftaran mahasiswa baru program beasiswa unggulan sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan pelayanan terhadap pengelola dan calon mahasiwa beasiswa unggulan. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode interview dan metode observasi. Sementara metode pendekatan yang digunakan adalah metode pendekatan terstruktur, sedangkan metode pengembangan sistem yang digunakan adalah metode waterfall dan perangkat lunak yang digunakan adalah Wampp, Dreamweaver, Chrome dan Mozilla Firefox. Dengan dibuatnya sistem informasi pendaftaran mahasiswa baru program Beasiswa Unggulan dapat mempermudah pengolahan data peserta Beasiswa Unggulan serta pembuatan laporan di Universitas Komputer Indonesia.
