Pada tugas akhir ini dibahas tentang perancangan sistem monitoring dan pembatas kecepatan pada sepeda motor melalui smartphone. Alat ini dirancang agar dapat membatasi kecepatan sepeda motor, karena tidak sedikit para pengguna sepeda motor yang mengendarai sepeda motornya dengan kecepatan tinggi, sehingga mengakibatkan kecelakaan. Dengan menggunakan modul GSM, data kecepatan pada sepeda motor dibaca oleh sensor rotary encoder, data kecepatan sepeda motor yang dibaca oleh rotary encoder dikirim dalam bentuk SMS (Short Message Service), data kecepatan yang diterima di android ditampilkan dalam bentuk grafik dan dalam bentuk angka di dalam software yang sudah terinstal di android dan batas kecepatan sepeda motorpun dikirim melalui android, sehingga orang tua atau keluarga bisa memonitor dan membatasi kecepatan sepeda motor yang sedang dipakai oleh keluarganya. Kecepatan sepeda motor dibatasi dengan membandingkan batas kecepatan sepeda motor dengan kecepatan sepeda motor yang dibaca oleh sensor rotary encoder, saat kecepatan sepeda motor melebihi batas kecepatan sepeda motor, relay yang dihubungkan ke kabel ground CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) aktif selama 4 detik, sehingga saat relay aktif pengapian pada sepeda motor mati dan menyala lagi saat relay mati, dengan begitu kecepatan sepeda motor dapat dibatasi melalui
smartphone android.
