Penelitian ini berjudul “Strategi Off Record Dalam Naskah Film “The Incredibles”. Di dalam penelitian ini dibahas strategi off record apa saja yang terdapat dalam naskah film “the incredibles” dimana dalam strategi off record tersebut juga dianalisis face threatening act. Strategi off record adalah strategi dalam penggunaan bahasa secara tidak langsung untuk membuat percakapan lebih sopan. Face threatening act adalah bagian dari off record yang juga merupakan sikap berbahasa yang dapat digunakan oleh seseorang untuk menyampaikan informasi.Metode yang digunakan oleh penulis dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif yang memaparkan penelitian lalu menganalisis data. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian adalah ditemukannya sembilan data mengenai strategi off record yang digunakan,yaitu:give hints, presuppose, give association clues, understate, use metaphor, overstate, use tautologies, use metaphor, be vague dan penggunaan positive face pada face threatening act yang lebih dominan.

This research is entitled “Off Record Strategy In “The Incredibles” Movie Script. In this research, it is discussed about the kinds of off record strategies found in “the incredibes” movie script, in which face threatening act is also discussed. Off record is a strategy in using a language indirectly in order to make more polite conversation. Face threatening act which is part of off record strategy is a language act used to deliver an information.The method used by the writer in this research is descriptive analysis that describes the research and analyzes the data. As the result of this research it is found nine data in off record strategies namely: give hints, presuppose, give association clues, understate, use metaphor, overstate, use tautologies, use metaphor, and be vague, and the use of positive face in face threatening act appears more dominant.
