Salah satu jenis keanekaragaman hayati dari kelompok flora di Indonesia adalah tumbuhan paku (Pteridophyta) yang diperkirakan terdapat 1500 jenis. Tumbuhan paku merupakan tumbuhan yang memiliki ciri khas tersendiri, yaitu dengan adanya daun muda yang menggulung, serta mampu menghasilkan spora dalam bentuk sporangium. Identifikasi tumbuhan paku dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui nama dari tumbuhan dan klasifikasi untuk pembelajaran, khususnya dalam pembelajaran biologi. Salah satu cara untuk menentukan jenis tumbuhan yaitu dengan menginventarisasikan jenis tumbuhan tersebut, untuk membantu dalam inventarisasi tumbuhan paku dengan komputerisasi menggunakan sistem pakar. Untuk menangani faktor ketidakpastian dalam penentuan familia pada tumbuhan paku maka Certainty Factor (CF) digunakan untuk penanganan masalah ketidakpastian dalam menentukan familia tumbuhan paku berdasarkan ciri. Dalam 2 kali uji coba terbukti prosentase keberhasilan akurasi hasil klasifikasi sistem dengan pakar pada 20 kasus hasil uji coba ke-1 dengan pakar 1 sebesar 80%. Sedangkan pada hasil uji coba ke-2 dengan kasus yang sama dengan pakar 2 sebesar 90%. Metode Certainty Factor cocok dipakai dalam sistem pakar untuk contohnya dalam penentuan familia tumbuhan paku.

One of the biodiversity of a group of flora in indonesia is the herbs spikes (Pteridophyta) who is expected to there are 1500 a kind of. Herbs spikes is herbs having a characteristic of its own, namely with existence of young leaves roll up, and able to produce spores in the form of a sporangium. Herbs spikes identification performed with purpose to know the name of plants and classifications for learning, especially in their experiences of biology. One way to determine sorts of crops namely by inventories a kind of the plant, to help in an inventory herbs spikes with computerized use expert system. To handle a factor in the determination of the uncertainty of the family in plants spikes then Certainty Factor (CF) used for problem handling uncertainty in determining herbs of the family based on the characteristics of a spikes. In twice the trial proved prosentase the success of the accuracy of the results of classification systems with experts in 20 cases the results of the 1st trials with experts 1 much as 80%. While in the results of the 2nd trials with the same case with experts 2 much as 90 %. A method of Certainty Factor is suitable use in expert system for example in the determination of herbs spikes family.
