STUDI KOMPARATIF ANTARA GRATIFICATION SOUGHT DAN GRATIFICATION OBTAINED MAHASISWA DALAM MENGGUNAKAN FASILITAS INTERNET DI UNIKOM

The research aimed to analyze difference between gratification sought (information motif, personal identity motif, motif of social interaction and integrity, amusement motif) and gratification obtained (information gratification, personal identity gratification, gratification of social interaction and integrity, amusement gratification) Internet facilities usage by students in Unikom.
Survey research method was used as the research method. Qquestionnaires, structured interview, and literature studies were used as data collecting technique. This population research includes all of Unikom students at even semester of academic year 2006-2007. Accidental sampling was applied to get research sample. Mean score from gratification sought and gratification obtained responder were used as the data analyze, while t-test paired sample was used as the hypothesis test.
Result from this research showed that strong, positive and significant correlations between gratification sought and gratification obtained. Ha has been accepted as a Hypothesis: There is significant difference between gratification sought and gratification obtained Internet facilities usage by students in Unikom. Level of discrepancy between both of gratifications is 0,733, which showed gratification obtained smaller than gratification sought, which indicated the internet facilities not yet gratified the student’s expectations.
The research suggests recommendations for Unikom to improve existence of internet facilities, like special seat and table for students usage internet at Zona Wi-fi; Monitor, Mouse pad, USB slot at Cyber net facility. While for students, give more responsible at usage the internet facilities in Unikom.
