Target of this research is to know ”how the journalists respond to media gathering in RCTI, Indonesian Idol promotions.
Research method used is descriptive analysis technique, and the data collecting technique is questionnare, interview and book study. Its sampling unit is RCTI media partner journalists with 52 people as sample. This research uses total sampling method because of small sample.
This research proved that, the journalist respond is good. It mean that the journalists can understand and be able to get message in this media gathering event. Every journalist says that performance of RCTI media relation sections in making this event is good and effective.
The conclusion of the research is that, media gathering by RCTI media relations sections is very useful and effective because it can help journalists to get latest news also as promotion tool to the Indonesian Idol program.
Suggestion is that, RCTI media relations sections continously need to make good relationship with local media and must have national database so the publication can be optimized
