This final project is entitled "The Analysis of Symbol and Figurative Speech in Five of William Wordsworth's Poems". In this research Wordsworth's poems are chosen because William Wordsworth is considered as one of the most influential poet in English literature and his creations give impact to the English literature until this era. The objectives of this research are to find the meanings of the symbols, the types of figurative speech and the how many figurative speech and symbol found in the poems. This research is using qualitative research. The use of qualitative research is suitable with the methods of analyzing data of this research. The present writer analyzes five poems written by Wordsworth, those are "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud", "Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 1082"�, "Lines Written in Early Spring"�, "London, 1802" and "Written in March"�. The results of the analysis can be stated as follows. There are 2 kinds of symbols and 13 kinds of figurative speech found in the poems. Those symbols and figurative speeches have their own meaning. And though all of the poem use nature, the purpose and message of each poem is different one another. Keywords: Poem, Figurative Speech, Symbols, William Wordsworth, Nature.
