Superman merupakan sosok tokoh fiksi pahlawan super yang diciptakan perusahaan penerbit komik asal Amerika Serikat Direct Comic. Superman adalah sosok yang terkenal dan muncul diberbagai buku komik, film, serial televisi dan mainan didunia. Sosok Superman sebagai pahlawan super dapat bermanfaat sebagai contoh untuk membuat karakter komik yang dapat berkembang dengan jaman dan juga contoh bagi masyarakat sebagai sosok pahlawan yang baik hati dikarenakan Superman mempunyai karakter lebih baik, lebih melankolis yang hadir dan muncul dengan apa adanya dibandingkan pahlawan super lain. Melalui paparan diatas, dibutuhkan suatu perancangan untuk dapat mengenalkan sosok Superman pada masyarakat Indonesia , karena itu dibutuhkan media yang dapat mengenalkan sosok Superman yang dapat menjelasakan sosok Superman sebagai pahlawan sekaligus mengenalkan perubahan yang terjadi pada sosoknya secara visual dengan informatif dan dapat dimengerti oleh masyarakat juga mempunyai ciri khas yang dekat dengan sosok Superman, Maka dipilihlah media buku ilustrasi yang didalamnya akan menjelaskan mengenai sosok Superman serta perubahan yang terjadi pada sosok Superman, perubahan yang terjadi divisualkan dengan perubahan visual pada kostum yang terus berubah mengikuti perubahan jaman.
