English is compulsory subject at Senior High School (SMA). To make the teaching and Learning process of reading more interesting and effective, picture can be used as media.
This research has been conducted to investigate whether there is a significant influence of teaching reading using picture on the first year studentsÃâ literal reading skill in finding general information and specific information at SMAN 1 Pujer Bondowoso in the academic year 2004/2005
The purpose of this research is to know whether there is any significant influence of teaching reading using picture on the first year sudentsÃâ literal reading skill in finding general information and specific information at SMAN 1 Pujer Bondowoso in the Academic Year 2004/2005.
The hypothesis of this research is that there is a significant influence of teaching reading using picture on the first year studentsÃâ literal reading skill at SMAN 1 Pujer Bondowoso in the academic year 2004/2005.The research design was experimental.The respondents were determined by using Cluster random sampling method. The research is carried out in SMAN 1 Pujer Bondowoso.There were 160 population and 80 respondents involved. The method used to collect data were test. The data obtained from the test were analyzed by applying t-test formula.
From the data analysis and interpretation, it was found that the result of the computation value of the studentsÃâ literal reading skill was higher (4,15) than the t-critic value (2,00) with significant level of 5 %. It was concluded that there is a significant influence of teaching reading using picture on the first year studentsÃâ literal reading skill at SMAN 1 Pujer Bondowoso in the academic year 2004/2005. From this finding it is suggested that the English teacher should pay more attention on the reading teaching and learning process and use picture, to make the teaching and learning process more effective and interesting.
