Many students realize that learning vocabulary is difficult, because there are so many things are differ from those our first language. A teacher needs variation in introducing English to students. The use of visual aids is one of the ways to make students easy to capture the materials given by the teacher it is to give a new strategy and reduce boredom situation also make students interest in learning English vocabulary. Thus, the writer tries to give information about the influence of using appropriate method or technique in order to make them enjoyable learning and motivation to learn it. The problem of this research is to what extend the influence of using visual aids on vocabulary mastery? The hypothesis of this research is that there is significant influence of using visual aids on vocabulary mastery of the fourth grade students of SDN Mundurejo 2 Umbulsari Jember in the acedemic year 2006/2007. This research is experimental research. The writer uses random, pretest posttest as the design of this research. The subject of this research is 50 students. It is divided into two groups, 25 students as the subject in experimental group and 25 students as the subject in control group. The data are collected by applying the test. The test covered vocabulary mastery in the part of noun, verb, adjective, and adverb. The test is given to the students on the pretest and posttest. The statistical formula to analyze vocabulary test is t-test formula, as follow: The result of the data analysis by using t-test formula is 2,14 and the t-value at 5% level of significant is 2,01. Thus, this result show that t-test >t-table or 2,14 > 2,01 (5%). In other words, variable have significant influence of using visual aids on vocabulary mastery of the fourth grade students of SDN Mundurejo 2 Umbulsari Jember in the acedemic year 2006/2007.
