As technology developing, photography becomes a popular media to deliver a message. Photo essay is a series of photographs and essay which are written to tell a point of view through a story. It also shows real condition in detail and it can evoke emotion; therefore, this project is aimed to present visual evidences and reveal the condition that children in Bandung get use to play in uncomfortable places due to the city development. Instead of writing a direct critique or disappointment, this project delivers its message by telling children's favorite game, places and friendship; therefore, the project shall raise self-reflection of the authority and the society to build more playgrounds equally in each area. This project is conducted based on photography and writing theory. Photography theory includes the theory of photo essay, human-interest photography and ethical considerations, while writing theory includes text type theory and writing style. Photographs are collected from the minimum of two districts in each eight sub-region in Bandung; thus, there were sixteen out of thirty districts visited to collect the data. The essays later were written based on the observation while collecting the photographs. As the result, the book contains five photo essays written approximately in 800-1000 words and presented by 17 photographs in average. The book which is entitled "Playing in the middle of Bandung: A photograph collection of children's playground in Bandung" shall be a pacesetter both to the authority's and the society's self-evaluation that children in Bandung need more proper and exciting places to play.
