This present project is about the making of English subtitles for profile films of three government institutions. These profile films are obtained officially from Batalyon Infanteri Lintas Udara 330/Tri Dharma (Yonif Linud 330), Akademi Militer (AKMIL), and Institut Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri (IPDN). These three films are often shown on several occasions such as benchmarking and corporate visits. Two of them have been uploaded in YouTube. This present project aims to provide English subtitles for these three profile films in order to assist international viewers in understanding the information presented in the films. The process of making the subtitles could be divided into four main stages. They are transcribing the oral texts, translating the transcripts, producing the subtitles, and packaging. Translation strategies by Vinay and Darbelnet (1995) are applied for translating the oral texts. Moreover, Subtitle Editor is the software application which is used for producing the subtitles. To test the product quality, the subtitles have been proofread by a foreigner who understands both Source Language (SL) and Target Language (TL). All in all, the result of this present project is English subtitles for the three profile films which are packaged in three CDs.
