This project is entitled The Making of Subtitle for Ekspedisi Zamrud Khatulistiwa by Dhandy Dwi Laksono and Ekspedisi Soedirman V Jaya Wijaya UPL MPA Unsoed, Indonesian Documentary Films. This project is aimed to translate the utterances and make subtitle of Indonesian documentary films. The project also identifies the translation techniques proposed by Molina and Albir (1998) and subtitling strategies defined by Gottlieb (1992) used in this translating and making the subtitles. In making the subtitle, subtitling techniques theory of Karamitroglou (1997) is used as guidelines. The result of the project is the films with English subtitle and also the analysis of the translation and the subtitle. The result indicates from 18 translation techniques, there are only 11 techniques used to translate the utterances of the film, and the most frequently used translation technique in Ekspedisi Zamrud Khatulistiwa is Couplet and Triplet technique, and in Ekspedisi Soedirman V UPL MPA Unsoed is Literal Translation. In subtitling strategies, there are only eight strategies out of ten used to subtitle the film. Both films have the same result for the most used subtitling strategies, that is Paraphrase.
