This final project is titled "The Use of Figurative Language in Dream Theater Songs Lyric".� This project analyzed the used of figurative language in two albums of Dream Theater. There are "Octavarium"� and "A Dramatic Turn Of Events"� contains five songs in each album with ten songs from both albums. It will prove the existence of figurative language in progressive rock American band, Dream Theater. Beside the existence of figurative language this study presents the meaning of each figurative language and finally counts the most of figurative language used by the author. Finally, through this research, the writer is able to conclude that the progressive rock song's lyrics have the beauty. From the use of figurative language, the progressive metal song proves that these lyrics are not only being a complement which has a beauty through the complicated instrumental arrangement, but also has a beauty in lyrics within figurative language.
