This final project is about translation of a novelette from Sundanese language into English. It aims to introduce the Sundanese culture worldwide. The data used is a novelette entitled Nu Ngageugeuh Legok Kiara that is written by Dadan Sutisna. It consists of 51 pages and approximately 8,000 words. To conduct this project, some theories from translation experts are used such as translation methods, translation procedures, and cultural words by Peter Newmark, the process of translation by Larson, and evoked meaning and grammatical equivalence by Baker. The project was conducted by selecting the data i.e. the novelette, reading and understanding the story in the novelette, translating the novelette by applying the theories, editing the result several times and proofreading it, and finally presenting the translation. The translation result is presented in a printed book entitled The Keeper of Legok Kiara. It is printed in A5 size that contains 70 pages. To translate difficult-to-be-translated words, some translation procedures were applied; the mostly used procedure is Notes procedure. Finally, this project can hopefully help solve the problem in rarity of translation of literary work that uses Sundanese language as well as to inspire other people to do similar translation project. Keywords: translation, Sundanese, novelette.
