This final project is about translating three short stories written by Kate Chopin into Indonesian. They are "A Pair of Silk Stockings"�, "Her Letters", and "Ripe Figs". The aims of this project are to introduce Kate Chopin's works as one of the famous world classic short stories and to contribute the increase of reading interest of Indonesian people. There were some steps to conduct this translation project from collecting the data, reading and understanding the stories, translating and analyzing the sentences, revising the translation, editing and proofreading, designing the physical look of the product, and printing the final product. In the process of translating the texts, several translation theories were referred, and translation techniques by Molina and Albir (2002) were used to translate the three selected stories. In general, there were about 15 translation techniques used and transposition was the most used translation technique since English and Indonesian have many different structure. In addition, in translating fiction, keeping the meaning of the stories is more important than to keep the original structure of the text.
